Here in the beautiful state of Alabama sits the county seat of Mobile County, Alabama. Our town is Mobile, AL and we are proud.
Being the third largest city in Alabama and the largest between New Orleans and St. Petersburg on the gulf we have about 195,000 people. We serve as the only saltwater outlet port in our fine state and we’re the head of Mobile Bay as well as the entire north-central gulf coast area. Our port stirs the economy of our town and served for decades as a key port of trade between our native dwellers and French tradesmen. Now, we’re the 12th largest in the United States and still moving goods for our country.
Our roots began as the first capital of French Louisiana colony in 1702. We cherish our deep history as a colony of first, France, then Britain, then finally of Spain. We became American fully in 1813 when James Madison ruled the roost as our President.
Nowadays we hustle and bustle as a cultural mecca in Alabama and on the Gulf Coast as a whole. We house several museums for art and history, an orchestra, an opera, a ballet company, and a TON of historical buildings. We’re known for having one of the oldest and most organized Carnival celebrations in our country. We began parading for Mardi Gras nearly ten years ago and we still go strong in that celebration today.
We have thriving schools, a system of over 60 parks and playgrounds for public use, and a general attitude of acceptance and encouragement toward wellness and activity for our families.
The Mobile County Health Department and Alabama Department of Health regulate and orchestrate much of our public health initiatives alongside our fine hospitals, emergency services, and of course, the elite practitioners in all fields of medicine including Dr. White at Smile Center, Inc.
